and Among the County of Erie, City of Buffalo, City of Tonawanda, Town
of Amherst, Village of Kenmore, National Fuel Gas, Niagara Mohawk, Town
of Tonawanda, Alternative Fuel Suppliers, Fleet Operators, NFTA, Local
Governments, SUNY at Buffalo, Erie County Association of Governments,
Erie County Industrial Development Agency, Amherst Industrial Development
Agency, Public and Private Institutions and Corporations, the United States
Department of Energy and the New York State Energy Office and other individuals
and entities as may join;
Hereby Agree to participate together as a United States Department of
Energy designated Clean City as Clean Communities of Western New York.
To Participate as individuals and in joint efforts to move towards the
following goals;
- Reduce
our local dependence on petroleum based and imported fuels used by
public vehicle fleets; as per the Energy Policy Act of 1992, and
- Work
to meet the vehicle emission standards of Title II of the Clean Air
Act Amendments of 1990, and
- Provide
public education and opportunities to view and test Alternative Fuel
Vehicles (AFVs) encouraging the conversion and manufacture of Alternative
Fuel Vehicles, and
- Explore
creative and cooperative efforts to build public infrastructure including
refueling stations, conversion and repair facilities and keep statistical
records and data to aid in research and development of Alternative
Fuel Vehicles, and
- Save
Costs associated with the maintenance and operation of vehicle fleets
for public and private corporations, and
- Formalize
participation among fellow signers as a Clean Communities of WNY Steering
Committee to advantage any government or private grant dollars to
serve the best interests of our community and to assign advisory groups
comprised of additional signers and sub-committees comprised of interested
parties working together on special projects as identified.
This Memorandum of Understanding is
not intended to and does not create any contractual rights and obligations
with respect to the signatories or any other parties. This MOU may
be amended with the consent, as to any party, of the signing parties
and may be terminated by mutual consent of the signing parties or
by any party upon 30 days written notice to the other parties. This
MOU shall become effective the day the last party to sign does so.
Membership is open to all interested public and private entities.
